Cape Kamui

At the edges of Hokkaido looking onto the Pacific Ocean, Cape Kamui is home to an old Ainu legend. Once there was a daughter of an Ainu chief who had fallen in love with a man. The man set sail to travel further north and the woman cried out at the tip of the cape, but her cries were drowned out by the waves and wind. She cursed the land, promising to sink every ship with a woman on board. She threw herself into the sea and turned into the rock we see from the coast. The path towards the tip of the cape still has a sign that bars women from venturing any further, a restriction placed throughout the Edo Period and was lifted during the Meiji Era of Japan.

I used the Fujifilm Superia Premium 400 for these shots

The winds here were so strong, felt like we would be blown away. That combined with the sudden change in weather from sunny to overcast as we approached Cape Kamui definitely gave an eerie vibe to the place.
